Things to do in Kaanapali

Kaanapali is west Maui's purpose-built resort strip: a run of oceanfront hotels along a roughly 5 km stretch of sand, linked by the paved Kaanapali Beach Walk. Most days on the ground here happen without a car. At the north end, Black Rock (Puu Kekaa) offers snorkelling straight from the beach, no boat required, and it's free.

Catamarans and sunset sail-cruises leave from the resort's own beach or nearby Lahaina harbour, typically USD 60-160 per adult depending on whether the trip adds an open bar or a whale-watching stop (December to April). Resort self-parking runs several tens of dollars a night if you're not staying on property.

As on every Hawaii beach, the sand fronting the hotels stays public land up to the high-water mark.
